Real Musicianship

Little bit about me

I’m a pianist, composer, and producer, and the instructor behind Lovely Piano Lessons. I hold a BA in Piano Performance from Berklee College of Music and have extensive experience performing, composing, and collaborating across a wide range of musical settings.

My work spans classical, jazz, pop, gospel, R&B, film and game music, and contemporary styles. I’ve been teaching piano for over 15 years, working with both children and adults.

I believe students learn best when lessons are structured, encouraging, and paced in a way that keeps music enjoyable and sustainable over time. Music is built step by step, much like a row of dominos. If the early foundations are weak or missing, it becomes difficult for later skills to connect and grow naturally. That’s why I focus on building strong fundamentals while still adapting lessons to each student’s pace and goals.

Students develop technique, rhythm, coordination, musical understanding, and expressive playing in a way that builds real musicianship rather than simply learning pitches in isolation without understanding how the different musical elements work together as a whole. Many students come to me with gaps in their foundations from previous lessons, and part of my work involves helping them rebuild those skills with clarity and confidence.

Lessons are structured but supportive, allowing students to progress at a steady pace while developing independence at the piano. Students learn how rhythm, phrasing, harmony, melody, and stylistic approach work together so they can play music appropriately for each style, rather than playing everything the same way.
